This makes a lovely compote for early autumn.
Pear and Blackberry Compote(6)
Put all the ingredients into a saucepan and add 5 fl oz water.
Set over a low heat and cover. Cook for about five minutes, stirring once or twice, until the sugar dissolves and the blackberry juice begins to flow.
Continue to cook over a low heat until the pears are very tender- the tipe taken will depend on how ripe the pears are.
Serve hot or cold with ice ceam, clotted cream, custard or some greek yoghurt.
